About the client:
The Government education diploma scheme, known as the 14-19 Leadership & Management Development Programme, was implemented nationwide and administered regionally through the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and the National College (NC).  The client needed a responsible and experienced programme administrator to coordinate the efforts of LSIS/NC across two regions for the duration of the programme.

About the role:
The role was as a regional programme administrator for the South East and East of England regions. This involved supporting a regional coordinator, indirectly working with the North/South regional managers and the head office management team.
The programme ran for two years, during which the role required regular contact with two regional coordinators, organising and attending team meetings, collating worksheets, creating and disseminating team reports, as well as data analysis and reporting.

Client benefits:
The programme’s success was dependent on maintaining open lines of communication between all actors, including regional/national coordinators, head office management, consortia advisers, stakeholders and all other regional programme administrators.
I worked closely with regional teams to coordinate paperwork and programme process updates.  Regional coordinators also benefited from a back-office administration resource.
Through accurate reporting, head office was able to make strategic decisions based on timely data.

Skills exercised:
  • Team management
  • Data processing
  • Report generation
  • Data dissemination
  • Stakeholder communication
  • Minute taking and distribution

“Highly effective in my view, Karen understands how to get the best out of people. She has excellent skills in keeping us on track with firmness and tact. Karen is very good at finding solutions and on many occasions we've had to respond quickly and imaginatively to challenging situations.  Karen has excellent knowledge of all aspects of the programme and always offers very welcome advice on the “bigger picture”.  I have found her support in dealing with procedures invaluable and she has been particularly helpful in coming up with solutions to issues that have arisen."
